Harnessed 6/4

Today I got to feel like a super hero! Anna put me in a harness so that I could do my jumps and have her pull me up in the air, giving me a feel of what it's like to jump as high (or higher) as I should be. It was so cool, we worked on my bunny  hops, Half- Flip and my Waltz using the harness. I need to practice landing with soft feet, by that I mean for from toe to heel, not just land flat footed, so this was very helpful. Also, today I got my best Waltz jump ever. Anna was so proud, but then I just could not seem to emulate it. Anna says it's normal that I loose things  and get them back, that it will become more consistent, so I'm feeling optimistic about that.
I also worked on my Salchow, and with some more help from Cole, I'm finally making some progress, although at one point I thought I was going to land face first into the ice..some how flailing my arms didn't seem to help... strange

My scratch spin is also improving, I'm getting better at finding my center of balance, but I'm still not there just yet. Anna is super specific and into technique and perfection, so I know I've done really well if she says so.

5/31 Salchow

Today I guess you could say, very loosely, that I learned my Salchow. It doesn't exactly look anything like it should, but I'm sure it'll get there! you start by gliding on one foot (my left) then do a three turn, pull your free leg to your ankle and sort of spin in the air. I haven't gotten off the ice yet though.
I found this video quite helpful. I also found my Complete Book of Figure Skating book good too with the tips. Of course Anna is who taught me, and Cole has been helpful too.
